Licorice Caramels

In large heavy saucepan combine first five ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thermometer registers 244 F. Remove pan from heat add flavoring and coloring and stir to blend. Pour, without scraping pan, into buttered 8-by-8 inch, 9-by-9 inch or 8-by-10 inch pan. Cool several hours. Cut into 1-inch squares wrap in waxed paper.

Makes 64 pieces.
